What are they? An electronic book is the content of a paper book that can be read by electronic devices such as computers, Kindles, iPads, cell phones and similar devices. Electronic books (eBooks) come in a variety of formats, each having advantages for certain devices. PCP uses the PDF format, which many devices can read. This allows many useful features that are not possible with a paper book or other electronic formats. If you purchase our eBooks be sure you have a device that can read PDF files. If you have adobe reader (a free download) you can read PDF files. PDF files do not need an internet connection. They can be installed on only one device and cannot be copied. Why might I want one? Search Features: Easily find all occurrences of certain texts throughout a document (e.g. Find all occurrences of “Abraham” in the Old Testament). Print What You Need: Print key pages of interest (e.g. Baptismal prayers or chant). Read Aloud: Most computers have electronic voices. You can have some devices read to you. (e.g. PC’s). Different voices are part of the operating system and sold separately. Sound and Video: A beautifully sung Ave Maria or video of a Eucharistic miracle can add to the message of a book . Our Philosophy Some people call any scanned book turned into a PDF an eBook. They have no proofreading, poor scan quality and no integration of the most useful interactive features. At PCP, all our books are character based and will have convenient-to-read fonts and format. Interactive elements will be few and only used if it adds to the traditionally held message. Never frills for technology’s sake. We think eBooks will enhance paper books and allow God’s message to be distributed in a form and at a price that should allow more people to receive the message.
